Tony Tixier’s music speaks to the listener in a deeply personal way — often exhilarating like a child running through a meadow, sometimes contemplative like a clear spring night under the stars, but always emotional like sitting by a beach fire next to someone you love. At the tender age of 6, Tony started his study of classical music at the Conservatory in Montreuil, and made his first stage debut a year later.
After graduating conservatory he has been a creature of the world: living and performing in Paris and New York and traveling the globe to perform in clubs and festivals. He opened for Herbie Hancock at the Jazz Festival in France. At the recommendation of Jason Moran he and his musician twin brother Scott created music for a program with artist Janet Cardiff to inaugurate Frank Gehry’s acclaimed project Foundation Louis Vuitton Paris.
Tony’s latest album, “Life of Sensitive Creatures”, is his personal reflection of our role on the planet. “It’s a songbook of emotions, put to music, says Tixier in the liner notes. “We’re making art — a moving painting.” His first album “Parallel Worlds” was released to much acclaim. His second album “Dream Pursuit” was celebrated by Jazz Magazine as “a revelation!”
