Black Cat JAZZ@theEDGE Summer Festival!! Presents: The Jahari Stampley Sessions

Raghav Mehrotra – Drums
Stefan Haerle – Bass & Sax
Alysha Monique – Vocals

Chicago-born pianist began playing the piano at the age of 14, already winning various competitions including Best High School Jazz Soloist Award and the National YoungArts Competition. At the age of 18 years old, he was recognized and followed by many world renowned musicians including Yebba Smith, Robert Glasper, Cory Henry, Jacob Collier, Derrick Hodge, Travis Sayles, Mike Mitchell, Andre Sims, Isaiah Sharkey, among others. Jahari is featured on Derrick Hodge’s album and has toured/worked with Jill Scott, Keyon Harrold, Yebba Smith, Marquis Hill and many others. Jahari has not only created and released his own mobile app (for learning piano) called “Piano Chronicles” but was also the winner of the $6000 Bösendorfer prize for the international 2019 American Jazz Pianists Association Competition (for ages 18-25).

Drumming since age 3, Raghav has been fortunate to have shared the stage with some legendary musicians like Steve Smith (Hall of Fame drummer for Journey), Slash (Gun N Roses), Earl Slick (lead guitarist for David Bowie), John Wetton (King Crimson), James Genus (Saturday Night Live), Jimmy Haslip (Yellowjackets), Vinny Valentino (Vital Information)! And on some awe-inspiring stages!

Raghav made his Broadway debut in Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Tony-nominated School of Rock the Musical where he performed over 500 shows and at the Tony Awards!

Stefan Haerle is a music producer, mixing/mastering engineer, and multi-instrumentalist based in NYC. Recently, he graduated from Manhattan School of Music, where he studied jazz saxophone with Donny McCaslin, Dayna Stephens, along with learning production and mixing from Erin Tonkon (David Bowie, Foo Fighters, etc). Stefan has been recognized personally by Derrick Hodge, Robert Glasper and many others in many genres involving r&b, alternative, hip hop, and gospel music, and he is the able to play different instruments quite well. From a production standpoint, Stefan combines elements of industrial (distortions, synths, and guitars), classical (string quartets), jazz (saxophone layers), hip hop (drum samples and various 808’s/synth basses), gospel (5 string electric bass lines), and alternative r&b (vocal mix/vocal layers), amongst other musical styles.

Bold, sensual vocalist Alysha, mesmerizes audiences with the sultry vocal stylings of jazz and soul music. Her endearing aura bewitches listeners into the essence of love, individuality and self-actualization. Surrounded my incredible musicians who strive to push their music to an innovative level, Alysha’s creativity and originality continues to ascend upward. An experience with Alysha is striking, genuine and poignant.
