9 GRAMMYS! The powerful and inspiring talent of Bobby Sparks is evidenced by the iconic artists who have integrated him in their bands, tours and albums. Bobby is a founding member and keyboardist of jazz powerhouse Snarky Puppy. He toured and recorded with PRINCE, St. Vincent, Lauryn Hill, D’Angelo, George Benson, Ray Charles and others. Bobby’s music and performance embodies the power and soulfulness of his church background where he listened to his mother play piano, his father the trumpet and was inspired to mount the organ at age 5.
His latest album “Schizophrenia” reflects the unbounded limits of his talent and influences. Bobby: “The album goes a lot of places. Funk. World music. Hip hop. All these directions. When I listened to the tracks, I realized it sounds schizophrenic. I put everything I love into this album because that’s who I am. I love every style of music. I love Miles Davis the same way I love Jimi Hendrix. I love Sly Stone as much as Bach and Mozart. I am a student of music! … But at the end of the day, for me it comes down to the soul and funk groove — it’s what makes people dance and shake their hair!”
Joining Bobby is rising-star vocalist James Robinson, drum powerhouse Brannen Temple, and sax virtuoso Shelley Carrol.
