Dan Montgomery’s debut album “Storyteller” — a fierce offering of nine original compositions that weave a captivating musical story — received 4.5 Stars from All about Jazz! The “Type A” track is a hard-driving, fast and turbulent modern jazz burner. In stark contrast, “Laila” features solo moments that float and mesmerize. Dan’s musical prowess enabled him to become a finalist for the prestigious Thelonious Monk Institute. Members of the Quintet include Dan Montgomery (bass/vocals/compositions), Sam Priven (alto sax), Neil Carson (tenor sax), Jake Shapiro (piano) and Evan Hyde (drums).
